forphase1 5 #1 Posted April 2, 2011 I'm working on replacing the rear lift cable on my C-160 and I've got a couple of questions. The PO had just ran a generic cable through the hole/area, but it was poorly done, and was missing the guardian 'pipe' that kept the cable from wearing down on the transmission and what not. I bought a new lift cable and pipe from a Redsquare member complete with the clevis and pins on the end of the cable. My question is how in the heck do I get in on my Wheel Horse? Today I took off the seat and rear fender assembly thinking that would give me access to everything I needed but the clevis and pins are still too big to fit through the gap. I guess my question is do I have to dismantle basically everything, or is there a trick that I"m simply not seeing? There is no way I can see to take the clevis off the end of the cable either, not without damaging/destroying the cable/clevis in the process. Any advice, or do I simply have to dismantle the entire thing?
zieg72 209 #2 Posted April 2, 2011 Been there done that. Sounds exactly like the scenario I went through with my 520H. I cut a grove in the clevis to get the cable out. I had to be careful but it worked good. When I was done I had to add to the end to reach on my 520H. I will try to link a post of the picture. I think there must be a special set up to be able to snake through the s-bend around the hydro transmission. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=26805 look closely how I ground a groove and close to the pin I filed out a round hole so I could slide the cable through the back...
