B-100 Reset switch??

Recommended Posts

Bob, or anybody else, I know Bob will know the answer.

I have a 77 B-100 worker, been doing great, but recently ran into wiring/starting issues. I have it about a year and use it often, but never been under the hood much. I have just discovered a "reset switch" on the passenger side next to the mower in gauge lever. Anybody know what it does, apparently nuthin on mine. it wont start with the key or the button, not even straight voltage to the starter, plug is not firing. turns over great just wont fire.

I think you are talking about the safety switch that stops the tractor from starting if the PTO lever is in the engaged position.

I havent looked at the B100 schematic, but on my B80 that switch prevents the starter from cranking the engine unless the PTO lever is disengaged.

Just a little clarification for me. Are you saying it will crank with the key, but not start?

If that is the case, then it may not be an electrical issue.

No reset switch on a B-100, but if the switch in question is a little "ball" switch that actuates when the PTO lever is engaged, that is a safety switch. It, along with another switch of the same type at the clutch pedal, is in series with the wire to the coil of the solenoid. If the PTO is engaged, or the clutch pedal not press in, there will be no power to the solenoid when the ignition switch is turned to start.

Thanks guys,

Answered that question, that is exactly what it is...

I removed the fuel tank, and mounting plate to gain more access to build a new wiring harness, we had moved the pto lever forward and that is when we found the switch, just didnt put the two together.....dah.
