IthacaJeff 151 #1 Posted March 12, 2011 Hi all; I'm in the process of getting my "new" tiller up and going, and need some insight from the experienced users. Here is the scoop: Good news: I've got the tines off and there is no slack in the system from the main pulley to the tine axle shaft. Neither is there any up and down movement in the axle. Neutral/bad news? There is about 1/16 - 3/32" in/out play in the tine axle shaft. Is this normal? On of the seals is leaking. This is the way I got it. I've read here on RS about leaking tiller seals, but it is unclear if they can be replaced without having to crack the case. The seals look much more buried into the casing than in the axle shafts in my transmission. Is this a process similar to replacing my tranny's axle shaft seals? I really don't want to open the case. The tine tube has some rotational slack when on the axle shaft due to wear on the axle holes. Should this be addressed? If so, how? Drill out the holes and put in bigger pins? Thanks, Jeff in Enfield NY
