tmessenger 0 #1 Posted March 11, 2011 Picked up a parts tractor today and the previous owner pulled the head tins for some reason and lost them so I don't have any of the engine numbers. The front shroud and air cleaner are painted gray and the shroud has Series II on it. Is there any other identification marks on the engine I could use. This may be a Kohler replacement engine with the gray paint ? Thanks Tim
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,538 #2 Posted March 11, 2011 What is the spec number? There is a thread on this very subject just a few days ago...
Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted March 11, 2011 with the tins missing and no spec. no, check the crank to see if it's 1 1/8" if so use the spec no. that would have been on that tractor it should be very close, for parts, a year I don't know if the stamped no.s on the block anyplace or not, almost has to be some ID mark on it. tmessenger 0 #4 Posted March 12, 2011 Thanks for the replies, I got the engine cleaned up and running really good today and also talked to the local Kohler service dealer. He said if it's primer gray then it's a replacement service engine not the original WH engine. I'm going to go hunt around at the shop were I picked it up and see if I can find the head tins it's been there a couple of years so maybe they are around somewhere, it's worth a try. tm
