BPC23 18 #1 Posted March 6, 2011 What manufacturer made the electric PTO clutches that were used on the 1970's Bronco 14's? Does anyone have a non-working clutch like this that they would be willing to send to me? I'll pay shipping, of course. I'd like to perform an autopsy and learn what exactly how these things are constructed. Brian
Sparky-(Admin) 19,674 #2 Posted March 6, 2011 I think they were made by a company called Werner. Mike.........

jusjeepn 59 #4 Posted March 7, 2011 Brian, If you switch to 73 and newer clutch you'll have better luck. They are a lot easier to dig into and can usually be repaired...... to an extent. Most often the adhesive that the coil was installed with fails and allows the coil to shift in the housing breaking the wires causing an obvious failure. This can usually be repaired but I have not found a suitable adhesive that is non conductive that will take the abuse that these things take when engaged and from vibrations. There is a compound called "potting" that is used in the electronics world that would be ideal but is not conducive to removal. Maybe SOI knows of other things that could be used.
