B-80 is really B-60?

Recommended Posts

I just checked my model number stamped on side of tractor (61-08K801) and Toro's site comes up with it being a B-60, yet it is clearly stamped B-80, or I should say the decal is B-80.

Were any tractors rolled out with B-60 decals? What is mine? A B-80 or B-60? I know this is trivial, but.......

Eric, the first two digits after the hyphen in the model number denote the horsepower. A B-60 had a recoil start K-161 7hp Kohler  , which would be 61-07K801/02 for 1976. It looks like you have found another incorrect entry at the Toro MPV site. (and I checked at PartsTree -- which copies from Toro -- and it's wrong there too.)

I would say that if the decals say B-80 and the model/serial number tag has the "08" for horsepower, then you have a 1976 B-80 8 speed.

I got the same type of deal Decals say B-80 I type in the serial # 61-08k02 @ Toro and it says B-60. Got me wondering now. I figure someone put the wrong decals on when they restored it

Anyone got the answer? Can't go by the motor because it is a replacement 8hp Kohler from 1988

According to my lube recomendations and usage chart 61-08K801, 02, 03, and 04 are all 1976 B-80 8 speeds. Just like TT said, the 61-07K801 is the B-60.

The first two digits after the hyphen in the model number denote the engine horsepower.

(Even though the B-60 uses a K-161 7hp Kohler. :banghead:)
