702 With Tranny Problem

How do the ends of the 11/44 gear look???  That is the big mushroom gear that rides in this hole. I have a feeling that the bottom part of the shaft is chewed up also.  Talk with you later...call anytime today.

Here is a photo of the end of the shaft that sits in the hole, not a close up but is the only one I took at the time. It doesn't look perfect but I would have expected it to look worse given the condition of the side of the case that I posted previously.

could internal damage similar to that shown here cause the end of axle seal(hub end)to start leaking?
