60" deck hanger

Recommended Posts

DrabHorse

Hello, just wondering if anyone with a 60" deck has had a problem with the hanger bar wearing. I guess the size and weight of the 60 puts alot of stress on it. The attach a matic wore down on the tractor too (520h) I changed it late last year to one I had laying around to get through the rest of the mowing season, but it started to wear too because of the movement with the deck bar being worn down.

If I had a lathe I would either build up weld this and machine it or machine from new stock. I know of someone who might help me out with this. If not I may try just a piece of 3/4" round with a sleeve over it in proper location (standard attach a matic is 3/4" right?)

 looks like a trip to tsc will fix you up just fine. 3/4 stock and two lock rings. maybe two roll pins on the ends also. check your center tach-a-matic also for ware with the new rod. it may need some welt on it if the rod is loose. hope this helps

I guess its simple enough to try and see if it holds up with just the 3/4". The original in the picture is nearly 1" with the ends and center attach points milled down to 3/4".

The wear you are seeing is not all from the mid attach. I think even new ones have small notches (step downs) where it attaches to the mid attach. The 3/4" bar is too thick to fit into the mid attach so they machine notches in the rod so it does fit. Hope this makes sense.

Mine is the same way, but not quite as bad as yours.....yet
