kboy-one 0 #1 Posted February 12, 2011 Greeting! I have just bought what I believe to be a WH C125 with a K 12h engine and 8 speed trans. There are no decals or identification other than a Vinplate stating GD Mountfield serial no 15098. I assume this was imported into UK by Mountfield in early eighties before WH were bought by Toro. It has an all red hood in the style of the C 125's ( I believe this to be the original paint). I have yet to meet this old girl face to face, but am going over to meet her next week (I live in Northern Ireland, She's in England and will eventually be travelling to France to look after a couple acres there). It would be good to go fully armed so if any one has any ideas I would be most appreciative. Is C120 a possibility?

kboy-one 0 #4 Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks for the welcome! Is a C120 a possibility? Another unrelated question! is a 12h Kohler a little underpowered for a 48" side shute deck ( with which the machine is fitted), in long grass?
Sparky-(Admin) 23,767 #6 Posted February 12, 2011 I would browse thru the picture gallery here at Redsquare and see if any of the tractors matches yours. It'll get us closer to nailing down the year. A 12hp Kohler that can acheve its full RPM potential (3600RPM's) should be fine with a 48" deck with SHARP blades. Dull blades and low RPM's will adversely affect its ability to cut the longer grass. You may have to slow down your ground speed some but she'll get it done. Mike.........

Fiscalyear 0 #9 Posted February 12, 2011 Hello KBOY-ONE and This is second or third hand information but some information is better than none. GD Mountfield was the distributor of your machine. It is shown that a company named AMNOR BELGIUM (circa 1968,69) was the "assembly" location and turned out the Commando 8, and one other similar sized machine. ??? Wheel Horse may have shipped parts to Belgium for these assemblies. ?? The support dealership for the GD Mountfield is LELY in England. A gentleman said he contacted Lely and they were very supportive by providing information and serial numbers, dates of manufacture, etc. Now you know all I know. Hope this gives you a trail to start your search. Remember, this information may or may not have much validity. Just a little research. Eddie
kboy-one 0 #10 Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks! that makes sense.Last week Mountfield put me onto the Toro site which was closed, so that was no help. The phoos that I have cannot be downloaded so next week I will post some of my own, which should give you all more to go on!
Fiscalyear 0 #11 Posted February 12, 2011 Hello again KBOY-ONE. I found some more information that may be of help. There was a posting back in November of 2009 by a member called THE TYKE. I do not see that this is a current member but if you have access to a BING feature you may try the following: BING - GD Mountfield FIND - RedSquare > Now a proud owner of a Wheel Horse Raider 14 POPS UP - The tyke's post of 11/28/09 If you don't get this far then maybe one of the more experienced members could direct you to the refered post by THE TYKE. Discussion on this "antiqued" post is related to your scenario and you may be able to extract additional information from it. Good luck. Eddie

kboy-one 0 #13 Posted February 12, 2011 Thats good information thanks and thanks for the link I was having trouble finding the thread. Because you all love pictures i add the nearest i can find on the web. It seems to be a C125, but if I can remember ( I lost the link) it had a 14h. Is the all red bonnet significant. The New vehicle has an intact rear fender ( so I assume it is steel not grp, which all seem to have bits missing) I am sorry if all this half info is confusing the issue. Real pics by next weekend. and first hand info and more questions i'm sure! thanks to all who have takenn trouble to contribute.

6wheeler 669 #15 Posted February 14, 2011 Well the 125's are blackhoods. Big square boxy hood. My 120 isn't like them at all.
