416 FUEL FILTER

Recommended Posts

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE 1988 416-8 CAME STANDARD WITH AN INLINE FUEL FILTER? IF SO WHAT IS THE PART NUMBER? I SEE A LOT OF FILTERS ONLINE BUT THEY ARE NOT TO BE USED WITH ENGINES THAT HAVE A FUEL PUMP.

I have two 312-8s and a 416-8 and when i bought these tractors thats the first thing i did i went to the parts store and bought inline filters and installed them between the engine and the dashboard( just below the battery ) i can,t decide what the value was of that screen in the tank , if it stopped dirt what was you supposed to do about it . i also use a funnel that has a screen in it when i put gas in my tractors .

I DO NOT agree with that sentence....I use a inline filter on ALL my tractors! from my D-160 with electric Fuel pump to my little 214-H.(Gravity Feed)

Thanks for the info. It sounds like any filter will do the job. I agree on using a filter and not that in the tank screen.

No some filters are not made to be used with a fuel pump, others are, I use filters on every tractor, and pull the screen off the shut off valve, buy the right filter, I buy mine from tulsa engine warehouse, they are cheap, and I like the small size they have.

I have an in line filter on both my '88 310-8 and my '86 416-8. I changed the gas tank valve and grommet on the 416, to one without the screen , and installed a filter below the dash and battery, just as my dealer did on my 310-8 that I bought from him a few years ago. I change the filters every spring. When I bought the 416 last spring it had sat in a shed for two years. The screen was rusty and corroded. So I also flushed the gas tank, and change all the fuel lines and rebuilt the carb.

I get my air, fuel, and oil filters, and plugs amd blades from "Mow More". I usually combine my order with a few other friends to keep the shipping cost down.

Their prices are very competitive. I also have a Sears riding mower with a gravity feed gas tank, I tried to use a 60 micron inline filter, it was too restrictive, so I had to use a round 75 micron filter. The wheel horse kohler engines work well with a 50 to 60 micron in line filter.
