312horse 0 #1 Posted January 31, 2011 The fuel valve on my 312-8 fell out of the tank , it appears to have somehow destroyed the rubber bushing ( part number 104047 ) maybe someone has another idea on hoe to hook to the tank ? it looks like 3/8 pipe would almost tighten in there maybe ? otherwise does someone have that rubber bushing for sale ? :banghead:
TT-(Moderator) 1,129 #2 Posted January 31, 2011 Check your local small engine shops and lawn & garden equipment dealers. Many brands used the same grommet: CUB CADET 735-0149 CUB CADET 935-0149 EXMARK 1-513645 MTD 735-0149 MTD 935-0149 NOMA 42690 SCAG 482571 SCAG 48309 SIMPLICITY 1654930 SNAPPER 1-2337 SNAPPER 7012337 STENS 125-336 TECUMSEH 33679 TORO 104047 TORO 46-6560 TROY BILT 1738433 TROY BILT 935-0149
312horse 0 #3 Posted January 31, 2011 i thank you , does that grommet just push back in there, and you then push the valve in it ? nothing on the inside of tank to tighten ?
6wheeler 596 #4 Posted January 31, 2011 It does on mine. Terry is right, I had no problems finding one. I think it was only about $6.00 too.

Duff 206 #6 Posted January 31, 2011 Just to give you a heads up - when you push in the grommet (bushing), it fits VERY tight. Then when you go to push the shut-off valve through the bushing, that's even tighter. I used some silicone grease on both to get them to slip in and they seem to be holding very well. The tight fit is worth it, though - once in place it won't leak or come loose for many years! ~Duff :banghead:

KC9KAS 4,741 #9 Posted January 31, 2011 I thought my leaking problem was the rubber grommet, but turns out the tank had a crack (in the seam). Tried all kinds of stuff to fix it, and ended up buying another tank. Beware!
Sparky-(Admin) 19,872 #10 Posted February 1, 2011 Dont do what I did once. I stuck the shutoff into the rubber grommit first and then tried to shove it into the tank . Mike.....
