sgtsampay 117 #1 Posted January 29, 2011 Hi all. I jsut wanted to included you guys on the small treasure I was just offered. A guy on the border of Maine/NH jsut emailed me and told me that he father passed away a few years ago an left about 25 engines with his son. About 10-12 of those are cast iron Briggs, tecs, and Kohlers. For instance, the son knows that there are at least 3 complete K321s. I'm after his K341 or Possible K361 that he thinks he may have. Anyway, the guys will be sending pictures tomorrow and some of the model number of the big engines. My point is there any engine that you guys may want me to buy and then ship or bring to you? That way I can get a better price since I'm buying a few engine then just one and then I can go from there. Please feel free to PM me if any of you guys are interested. I would also be more than happy to sale old 16HP cast iron Tec OH160 long block and my Briggs 16HP twin opposed. Both are horz engines and i have not ran them. I just got them and then stuck them in my garage. Thanks guys!

Anyway, i can PM you once i know mroe of what he has. :banghead:

sgtsampay 117 #8 Posted January 30, 2011 Update: I just talked with the guy and he had someone jsut come over and bought a bunch of his stock. Here is whats left: 3x Briggs cast iron engines. He thinks they are 10Hp or bigger. A tec Snowblwoer 7 Hp engine A Briggs 5 HP Horz. A Kohler 16 HP K34 (I want it so badly...) A few vertical engines. A tons of starters and a few pull ropes I will still be going there for the Kohler and mabye the Briggs but if you guys want anything, please let me know. I will be sending you guys PM about this also. Sorry about this. Again, I'm sorry for this, its jsut when I tlaked him yesterday he had no one wanting the engiens and wanted them gone. LOL. Irv 115 #9 Posted January 30, 2011 You might want to ask yourself if someone came over and bought a bunch of this guys stuff, why would'nt he take a Kohler 16 horse if it was any good. There's a guy near me that has a tractor trailer full of engines and parts in his yard, nothing complete or running, yet he wants big bucks for anything. I've been able to buy whole tractors with a good motor for less than what most people want for just a good motor.
sgtsampay 117 #10 Posted January 30, 2011 Well the guy seemed to only want one of the K341, so mabye him buying other engines include a K341 and Kohler V-twin was enough. I'm tring to hope anyway... Besides how much wrong can there be with a $100 K341? :banghead:

sgtsampay 117 #12 Posted February 1, 2011 Hello all. I jsut got back from my mini trip to NH. Overall, i'm dispointed. The Kohler thta he had left was a K301 and the Briggs were 3 80's horz 10-11 like the one found on the GT1100. So i grab the two briggs that have non tappered shafts and then grab the Kohler. I paid $300 for all three engines. The two briggs are in nice looking shape with one briggs that looks like it was never used. It doesn;t even have any paint missing or scratches. LOL. The kohler is all intacted but was neglected. It had a good parts of its fins covered in mud, lots of rust on the shrouding and flywheel, and lastly, oil/greassy gue on the bottom pan. I plan to rebuild the Kolher as much as i can afford/is needed. I want to at least bore it out to .10 or .20 and then shave the head a little. Then I want to check the valves for clearence and if they are ok, then leave them. I also want to repaint the thing and clean the carb/rebuild it. Then I hope it will be as strong or stronger than my 16 Briggs twin and I will just place the K301 on it and sale the twin. This way I can have the better torque band of the Kolhers, my first truly rebuilt engine, and it should use less gas than my twin. Now, will the K301 modded have enough power to run a dual stage snowblower and a 42in rear discharge deck?
can whlvr 994 #13 Posted February 2, 2011 pretty shure if that 301 is in good shape,it will power both,i think ive seen members here with the 2 stage on a 12hp,aka duke horse fixer has a c120 that ive seen his videos and that thing throws snow
sgtsampay 117 #14 Posted February 2, 2011 Yeah, thats what I'm watching right now. His videos. also, I ran the numbers tongith and found that the Briggs are i/c 8Hp briggs engines from the 80's. Ugg, 8 Hp! This whole adventure is turning out to be a disapointment..
