problem with my 68 lawn ranger

I made already a post about my ranger that stood 2 years outside:

But I'm having a problem. On the last picture you see a hole in the belt guard. If the hole isn't there the belt has not enough tension. First I tought the belt was too long. But it's a 70", so the original one. A 69" is just too short.

Maybe the engine was badly placed, but that isn't the case either.

So It must be the pulleys.

Both pulleys are solid steel. The rear measures 4" and the front consists out of 2 pieces while the parts list only speaks about one. It measures 2" 1/4.

Has anybody an idea of the size of the original ones?

Engine pulley should be 2.5" / tranz pulley is correct @ 4"

Do you have a picture of the tractor with the belt guard removed? It looks like the "finger" above the tensioner pulley is turned up around too far - or maybe the tensioner arm has been changed.

Does the metal belt guard still have the metal tab on the end near the pulleys?

That tab helts keep the tnesion on the belt also.

The picture below has the tab in it below the belt and to the left of the pulley,

The second picture may be a little easy to see the metal tab with the bend on the end.

Thank you for your answers, I found (after long waiting) two 2,5"pulley's. With these mounted, the clutch doesn't touches the beltguard anymore. It are not the original ones (because they are quite rare), but they look good.

Looks like the engine may not be orig. and you have a 3/4" crank so a stock pulley will not fit anyway, if that is true.
