Front weight

Recommended Posts

I sold my friend a 1076(which I miss very much), and he bought a plow for it, he says it works great but wishes it would steer better when pushing, any suggestions or ideas for front weight- would that help??

Some guys put weights on the front wheels, or load the tires. I've never done either so I cant tell you how effective it is.

I use tri-ribs on the front of my 1276, and it was a night and day difference. The steering actually got lighter, but the tractor turns a whole lot better than it did with the slightly wider turfs.

Another thing I havent tried is the roller chain around the circumference of the front tire. There are a couple of threads on it here, and the guys that have done it swear by it.

I stopped looking for an improvement as soon as I put the tri-ribs on.

you could sit on they hood while he plows :banghead: he could put fron wheel weights on it, if he can find them. maybe buy some ribbed tires. or go the cheapest route and do the #40 roller chain trick. I think their is a couple threads on here somewhere about using chains on the front tires.
