PlowDayJunkie 3 #26 Posted January 28, 2011 I made a set of concrete weights years ago. I used a 12 inch rim, lined it with aluminum foil, used 2 pieces of 1/2 inch plastic conduit that I bolted to the rim tight. poured in the concrete, I even made a rings out of ductile iron pipe so the weights were wider than the rim,.....worked for many years, and they could be taken off very easily. A neat trick with lead, is to take a plumbers candle and wipe it on the lead as it cools. The wax gets in to the surface and will keep it from oxidizing...turning white...which is the hazardous stuff. It will look like new for a long time. You can do it later this spring by warming them up...the wax works like a cleaner and a flux for soldering. Nice job on the weights. Sounds great I think I will try that. I was gonna paint them in the spring. They fall right out of the cast iron skillet when they cool.
