Kai Thomsen 17 #1 Posted January 18, 2011 Not a real problem (yet) But the magnum 8 in my tractor has a distinctive "tick tick tick tick" from one of the valves when it is idling real low. At part throttle it is not that bad. They are, as far as i know of not adjustible as in the bigger engines. Should i attempt to grind the valve and seats to close up the valve lash, or is it better and buy 2 new valves and go from there ? Ps: Any place that i could buy valves in the US ? It takes forever to get kohler magnum parts from my local dealer.
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #2 Posted January 18, 2011 The very first thing you should do is measure the valve clearance. If they're too "loose", but are in good condition, I would definitely grind the valves & seats and then "set" the clearance.

Docwheelhorse 2,561 #4 Posted January 24, 2011 leave it alone.... it will run for 1000 years like that. You can set them back to the proper spec when you rebuild the rest of the engine. Tony
