drilling out crankshaft stud

Recommended Posts

The stud broke off the crank on my k301 and I am having it drilled and tapped. Should I go 3/8 or 5/8 on the bolt size?

3/8" - 24 NF

Then you can use the OEM Kohler bolt & heavy washer to secure the flywheel - just like the newer engines. :banghead:

In case you are wondering.........

The Kohler part number for the bolt is 25 086 24-S and the flat washer is p/n 12 468 03-S :banghead:

Proper torque for the bolt is 40 to 45 ft/lb (lightly oil the threads)
