dgjks6 8 #1 Posted January 12, 2011 As I spend more and more on my restoration project I look for justifications. Today as I was plawing my driveway for the second time today I realized I just made $70. The plow guy used to charge me $35 per trip. And the lawn service charged me $75 per mow. I figure that just in the last year I saved 10 plows and 24 mows for a total of over $2000. Now I feel better.

linen beige 15 #5 Posted January 12, 2011 I like your math skills. A few summers ago my wife wanted a new patio. The best estimate for having all the work done was $5900. After I did what I could with two of my horses it cost us $1400 to have the slab poured and finished. I had some $1100 invested in the two tractors, blade, box blade, and tiller. $5900 - $1400 - $1100 = $3400 saved by Wheel Horse! :banghead:
Tim 97 #6 Posted January 12, 2011 if you work them, they pay for themselves many times over payed $1400 seventeen years ago, with plow and mowing deck later bought tiller, trac vac snowblower, etc (and um... two more WH's) got say ~$3500 into everything. (nickle and diming over the years) got ~10 cords of wood for free with the WH and little trailer for free over a two year period from the neighbor just had to go get it, not accessible by 2wd truck at $125/ cord which was the price at that time, $1250 mowed my lawn for the last 17 years have about 30k feet of grass. lets say $25/week (which is on the low side) times 25 mowing/ year ~$10500 cleaned my driveway for the last 17 years, including this morning (got about a foot) at $25/ visit , which is probably on the low side, lets lowball and say 6 times a year ~$2500, tilled my garden for the last 14-15 years costs ~$50 to rent for half a day, ~$1450 1250+1450+10500=13200 13200-3500= saved about $10K the numbers are on the low side it is in reality alot more plus all of the hauling of bark mulch, loam, and countless other things over the years jumpstarting cars!!! has it payed for itself... oh yeah
buckeye 5 #7 Posted January 12, 2011 We had 5 inches of snow yesterday. As i was plowing the driveway and sidewalks, a passerby stopped and asked if I could plow his driveway which was 3 blocks away. When I finished, he handed me a $20, and i was on my way. Then his neighbor stopped me. Another $20 . This happened two more times last night. Not only do they save you money, they make you money. I got paid $80 to do something that I would have done for free! Today, I think i will hit the rich section of town :ROTF:
