multihobbyguy 35 #1 Posted January 10, 2011 I am always envious when I see other peoples hauls. So I finally have one to share of my own. I have been looking for a RJ or Suburban for awhile now and couldn't seem to find a complete one that I could afford or would want to travel to pickup. One popped up on craigslist Friday night so I sent a text to the owner Saturday and he got back to me with a better description about the tractor and I was pretty sure I wanted it, but I was worried I might not be first in line. We went back and forth via text all day and then he hit me up about another tractor he had and wanted to know if I would be interested. Well I was worried that if I wasn't interested I might miss out on the Wheel Horse so I said sure and told him to send me the details. So after another round of texts (still no pictures and no phone conversation) I go ahead and agree to purchase what he has if the condition is as stated. So today I drove the hour and half to Annapolis, MD. I picked up what I believe is a 1960 400 Suburban with what I believe is all the parts except the fuel tank. The guys grandfather or uncle purchased the tractor new and he started to redo the tractor a couple of years ago and lost interest. The other tractor turned out to be a 1959 Economy 2414 or 2416. I also loaded that tractor up. The motor has been changed and the hood has been modified some on the Economy. Thanks for reading my short story. I am still pretty excited about the new purchases and probably will be for awhile. If anybody see something that is not correct with the Suburban I would like to know what is not original or wrong so I can start correcting anything that is off. As some of you may be curious as I always am when I read these stories I paid $200 for the Wheel Horse and $300 for the Economy. Here are some pictures. Sorry the tractors are still in the trailer for now. (The fella that I purchased them from threw in the the little Thunderbolt motorbike when I told him I thought it was neat. You can see a couple of shots of it here and there in the pictures).

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,538 #9 Posted January 10, 2011 Very,Very nice haul. Let me know when you want to sell the front wheel weights off the Economy. They really look terrible on there :banghead:
VinsRJ 723 #10 Posted January 10, 2011 Looks like you wait paid off! Nice haul :banghead:
Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted January 10, 2011 I'd say you did very good on both, those front weights I believe are cub, fronts for bigger tractors and rear for garden tractors, when your ready I should have a gas tank for the 400.
multihobbyguy 35 #12 Posted January 10, 2011 Thank you for your comments. Sparky: The exhaust on the economy just rolled back it was easy to move. AzTrooper: I do plan to clean the little motorbike up for fun sometime. Kelly: I may need to take you up on that gas tank if you could PM me a price on the tank and shipping to 22039. I will also be looking for the drive pulley on the rear end.
stevasaurus 23,285 #13 Posted January 10, 2011 Nice haul...I kinda really like that Economy. The size looks perfect for a few thing I need to do. :banghead:
multihobbyguy 35 #14 Posted January 12, 2011 I had a good day today. The guy who sold me the Suburban sent me a text and said he found the gas tank and wanted me to know that he was going to ship it to me. So now I just need to find another pulley for the transmission and then I think I will be ready to fit it back together and make sure everything works correctly. Steve: the Economy is growing on me. I am starting to think I will hold onto it for awhile and play with it.
