dandan111 31 #26 Posted January 20, 2011 Price sounds not to bad to me but I dont like the wiring problem. Paying a good price for a nice machine would be one thing but with wiring problems the guy should be willing to come down.
WheelHorseSteve 48 #27 Posted January 27, 2011 SO glad I read this thread... thank you everyone. I'm in the market for a tractor for my father-in-law -- something in the $1 - 1.2K range... hydro, 42+" deck, bagger... will only be used for mowing. Saw this 520H listing on eBay --- Absolutely no linking to Craig's List Ads or Ebay Auctions. Please read the rules. Thanks. And was considering trying to convince him to go up to $2.5K for a nice 520H. This seller also has a 416H available for just a little less. He is in his 60s and isn't mechanically inclined. Focus is on reliability / ease of use. Any suggestions for a machine in his price range?
dandan111 31 #28 Posted January 27, 2011 Alot of guys on this site fix up these old tractors to almost new condition. I would just wait until one pops up. If he just wants something to mow with than maybe a newer lawn tractor or a zero turn would be a good way to go? The 520 or 416 would be great but just for mowing you may want something that turns a little tighter? I love my 314 but the turning radius is not very good. WheelHorseSteve 48 #29 Posted January 28, 2011 Thanks DanDan -- and apologies for posting the URL! (won't make that mistake again) So I found a 268H locally with 38" deck and bagger -- listed for $1500. Other than the smallish deck it seems like a good fit... though I think the price is a bit high. What do you guys think of the 268H overall? He previously had a Scotts (JD) with hydro and it was good for his needs... so, no need for a zero-turn (he's used to a tractor)
Kelly 1,028 #30 Posted January 28, 2011 Wheelhorsesteve, not sure where you are but I have a nice mowing tractor for a little over half what you your looking to spend, it's a 246 H with a 42" deck, here's a pic or two if your interested let me know.
dandan111 31 #31 Posted January 28, 2011 I think that tractor Kelly has for sale looks like a nice tractor. My brothers father in law has one and never had any problems that I can remember. Maybe Kelly can locate a bag for it, he seems to find alot of stuff!
