Kai Thomsen 17 #1 Posted January 9, 2011 New member here, i hope i post in the right section What model is my wheel horse ? The numbers on the little plate are: 1-0120 131365 I have tried google.. and did find a couple of posts on different forums.. But some say it is a 1973 8hp 4speed. Which shoud have 10" rear wheels and 6" front ? Mine is a 8hp, but.. rear wheels is 23-9.50-12 and front is 16-6.5-8 and the gearbox is 8speed, and i think has limited slip differerential (there is a steel spring pressed in between the 8 pinion gears) I know nothing has been changed on it, it has been in my family since its was new. Sorry for my english, it is the best i can do.
Gene_S 93 #2 Posted January 9, 2011 First and happy Here is the page from Toro... Type in your 1-0120 and it shows 1973 8-4 https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?caller=toro
dgjks6 8 #3 Posted January 9, 2011 It is a 1973 8hp 4 Speed according to the toro parts viewer, and yes, the site does say it should have come with the 6 inch up front and the 10 inch rear, but the rest of the 1973 no name tractors has 8 and 12 inch rims. Maybe it was an upgrade or the master parts viewer is wrong, which it is at times. Pictures are always welcome. Oh, and :banghead:
stevasaurus 23,285 #4 Posted January 9, 2011 it should have the 5085 transmission which is a 4 speed...not an 8 speed. Should have a Kohler K181S 30461D 8 hsp engine.

Kai Thomsen 17 #6 Posted January 9, 2011 Thank you all for the nice welcome The only numbers i have found on it, is the 2 numbers on the little plate on the left side on the steering column: 1-0120 131365 Nothing about it being made in Belgium, but it probably is ? I live in Denmark / Europe and the tractor was bought new here in 1973 and has been my uncles for many years until i got it for free a couple of years ago. It had been sitting outside for years and looked pretty bad, so most of it has been sandblasted and repainted. I still need to find new decals for it, which ones will be the correct ones ? and a pair of new or used front rims as they are completely rusted out. (rest of the tractor looked just as the rusted rims on the photo when i got it) I can't figure out howto attach a photo, but i hope this link will work: http://i51.tinypic.com/1pawlt.jpg I don't have the original Kohler engine anymore, it blew up years ago and was replaced with the Kohler Magnum in 1987. It still runs strong and sounds great.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #7 Posted January 9, 2011 :banghead: , Kai! The information provided above may not apply to your tractor. The model number list that we have covers USA-built tractors and doesn't include models built in Belgium or some of the other non-USA models. The USA built 1-0370 1973 "8 8 speed" is closer to the tractor in your picture.

It is the nearest, looking at the Gear Knobs , it look's like it has a 5086 Transmission in it. Your Tractor is Built in Belgium because the Seat was produced in Britain made by 'Bostrum'. If you remove the Steering Wheel Boss and look inside it , it will read 'British Made'. You could buy Front Wheels and Tyres in UK or other E.U. Countries, try Ebay.UK. I'm sure we can help you if you need it. Also , look up the 'Euro Horse' Forum here. Look's like we may have to ask for Danish Flag in the Smilies File!. sorekiwi 761 #10 Posted January 9, 2011 :banghead: Sounds like you have already been in the gearbox, if you know there is a spring in the differential. Are you sure it has 8 pinions? The Limited Slip diff normally had 10.

The Limited Slip diff normally had 10. Truth is.. i can't remember how many pinion gears there is.. 8 or 10. I had the gearbox open a week after i got the tractor. Only 1'st and reverse was working, one of the steel balls for the shift shaft was badly worn. I did open up the diff and cleaned everything in there, and anything else in the gearbox. But in the middle of the diff there is a big 1" wide steel spring that looks like a C if that tells you anything ? Wheel axle is 1-1/8"

Kelly 1,033 #14 Posted January 10, 2011 If it had the big C shaped spring it is a 10 pinion limited diff.
stevasaurus 23,285 #15 Posted January 10, 2011 But in the middle of the diff there is a big 1" wide steel spring that looks like a C if that tells you anything ? Yes...that would make it a "limited slip" differential. And, yes, it is a spring. Kelly and I posted at the same time. You win this time.

Anglo Traction 761 #19 Posted January 10, 2011 [Other things i would like to find is new front wheels, and a fuel tank like the one that used to be there. I think if i scrap the magnum fueltank it will look more like it used to with the old Kohler. And maybe a airfilter like the old one if it fits. Kai, Can you tell me if there is 1 or 2 Pedals ( Brake/Clutch on Left) or a separate Clutch Pedal and a Brake Pedal ?.
Kai Thomsen 17 #20 Posted January 10, 2011 Only one pedal on the left side, clutch / brake.
