Recently watched a show on Discovery Chanel where a guy made a pick up truck that ran on wood or dried horse manure.

When the wood is burnt it gives off a flammable gas that is collected and cooled. The cooling condenses it and it can be run in a motor. If you notice, the pellets are not completely on fire but more smoldering. If completely on fire the gasses are consumed by the fire.

I'm no expert, just saw the show on Discovery

I knew a guy up in northern MN that ran a AC WD-45 on wood gas like that system,

Strange fellow too. :banghead:

you can do this because wood does not burn. the heat breaks down the wood and a gas is given off. it is this gas that burn not the wood.

OK...I think I get that.

I wonder....can the gas in it's liquid form be stored and burned later, or must it be burned while it's "hot".

If you can't store it, I guess you can run the motor, but can't actually drive it anywhere? :banghead:

Still, interesting stuff.

you can store it but it is not under pressure when "creating" it. the vacuum of the motor draws air thru the smoldering wood sucking the gas in to the carb.

If you google wood gas you'll get a ton of info. Wood gas cars were popular many moons ago.
