lift leaver height adjust

Recommended Posts

persof

I have a 1988 312-8 and I am thinking about retrofitting it to have the height adjust knob assembly as it is a pain to have to disassemble the console to adjust the lift leaver when I use different attachments. Is this expensive to do from a WH dealer? Do they ever show up used?

Thanks

Francis

Kelly

I may have all the parts to do the swap, bug me in a day or so, if I don't PM you with the info.

If you're talking about the "Dial-a-height" adjuster and if Kelly doesn't have the parts, they are still available OEM......

Hey Francis,

I did what you want to do to my 310-8 speed last year. I took the parts I needed off my C-121 and the whole process was completed in a few hours. Just needed to notch the tunnel plate and a little bit on the bottom tower plate. Well worth the effort!

:wh: Model number is 86726 for the kit.
Should be around $80 @ the Toro dealer.

I use mine to set a minimum height for the mower, and to keep the blower a inch or so off the ground. At least until I get the wheel fixed

Don, I've read that a lot of guys really like it for doing finish work with the mid-mount grader blade. I put one on one of my 312's but haven't had a chance to use it yet (call me lazy....).

They are really nice with a tiller and single bottom plow. I have used it for my snow plow when I dont want to plow up gravel.

I got mine off of the bay for a few bucks.

The dial-a-height is handy because the front blade, mower deck and tiller attachments require me to remove the console plate that the shifter leavers stick through and adjust the trunion nut when I mount the different attachments. I am hoping that the dial-a-height will eliminate that? My local WH dealer can get the parts new but the cost is higher than I want to spend no this project. Maybe I will find the parts used at some point. (Arndtsville, PA in June 2011)

Thanks

Francis

The Dial-A-Height is just the :banghead: name for a manually-adjustable depth limiter.

It is nothing more than an adjustable "L" shaped rod that works in conjunction with the slot in the bottom of the lift lever.

It has absolutely nothing to do with raising implements or how high they can be raised. It does control how far they can be lowered and keeps the depth consistent for repetitive jobs such as using a grader blade, moldboard plow, row maker, tiller, cultivators, etc.

I don't know why they got rid of the dial a height knob. I think that was Toro.

They didnt get rid of it, but it did become an option instead of it being standard equipment..

I got the parts to add it to my 310-8 off of e-bay.  I don't remember what they cost, but less than $15 I think.  I use it to control the height of my snow plow in the down position and the height of the mower deck in the lowered position also.  I set up so that the deck rides on its wheels and give a little free play on the lift handle. This also keeps the lift handle closer to the operator in the down position.

Learn something new every day! I assumed all 8 speed tractors had the dial-a-hight feature.
