Removing Oil dipstick on K181

Recommended Posts

How do you remove one of these dipstick housings on a K181 from a wheelhorse?

Is it pressfit, screwed in, etc?

Thanks for your help

According to the Parts drawings, they are a Press Fit.

Clean the paint away from the joint and add some good penetrating oil to the joint.

I wrap a thick piece of leather , rough side contacting the Tube to avoid marking it, then use a Pipe Wrench to Gently turn it while using the other hand to pull upwards on the tube. Alter the rotation and repeat.

You can use a couple of layers of Denin if you have no Leather.

When refitting, if joint is not tight, Degrease the joint, apply a smear of epoxy resin glue to the joint .

Not to stray too far off course, but can you post the ID numbers for that engine?

I don't recall of any  models that used that style of dipstick/tube. :banghead:
