smoreau 658 #4 Posted January 2, 2011 just found out fri from kelly that the sundstrand pump should be red also. if this is the cace I do have to repaint the frame and axles this spring to match the tins. I started out with oil base radel cans. but the tins I had A friend do with valspar and I like that much better. what do you guys think about spraying valspar overtop of oil base? :ychain:
.5racer 15 #5 Posted January 2, 2011 I think the drying time between the two would be ok , But you are going to have to sand to stick realy well or it might peel ... jmo

smoreau 658 #7 Posted January 2, 2011 I think the drying time between the two would be ok , But you are going to have to sand to stick realy well or it might peel ... jmo oil base was put on in aug of last year and I'm going to wait tell spring to redo it. working on the k181 at this time and plan on finishing this project before the july 4th. this was my grand fathers tractor he got new in 65 and my father got it in 84. my father isn't doing very well and I want pics of him tooling around the yard on his late fathers tractor. I have the greatest memories of plowing snow when I was a kid on this and want this to last long after me in our family :ychain:

smoreau 658 #12 Posted January 2, 2011 I did have a unexpected surprize when I had the frame all cleaned up. the rear axle mount had been rewelded back on 1" forward of the mount. Grandpa, I don't remember any stories of you braking the tractor in two! I asked my father and he dosn't remeber it eather. any wa I cleaned up the welds and filled in the pits with more weld. ground it down so you would never know still looking for A original seat. getting a old black and white one that rough for paterns next week :D
