rjr 0 #1 Posted December 30, 2010 I hit something hard under the last snow and felt a slight jerk. I noticed that the blower was listing but wasn't worried about it until I noticed the wheel laying on the driveway. I have not started taking it apart but it appears that it's held on by a "C" clip. Could that be right? Doesn't seem strong enough. The other puzzle is how to get to the back of the lever to put the clip back on. It looks like you have to take the auger off from the opposite side. Anyone know a short cut? Thanks in advance for the help.
mrocket49 23 #2 Posted December 31, 2010 On my snowblower, the steel wheel is held on to the end of the axle stud with a c clip and I believe the axle is welded to the steel strap though I never looked. Could it be that the axle stup broke off on your snowblower and you're looking at the c clip as the end that was against the bracket? It's too cold in the garage to go look now but let me know if you need a picture or anything.
WH854 45 #3 Posted December 31, 2010 Maybe these pictures will help There is not a C-clip on this unit it has a hole for a pin. Chas
rjr 0 #4 Posted January 4, 2011 Mine has the hole for the clip. The stud may have been brazed as it came out clean with no obvious sign of welding. There is a groove that looks like it could have been for a C clip on the strap side but it is not a well machined groove and could possibly be scoring. I will probably have to take the other side off to tell for sure. P.S. Nice job on the restoration!
WH854 45 #5 Posted January 5, 2011 The handle end end comes out of the auger, the other end has a pin in or roll pin holding it on. consists of 2 main parts. There are roller bearings in each end of the auger. The rod serves 2 purposes support for the metal wheels, and axle for the auger. If you have to remove it GOOD LUCK Chas
