jb4249 131 #1 Posted December 29, 2010 I am new to this forum and a fairly new WH owner. I had a C-81 about but sold it about a year ago. I decided I wanted a round hood model. I found a 1964 854 on Ebay and picked it up. I am in he process of doing a pretty deep restore. I have all of the sheet metal of and blasted and the engine off of the frame. The frame is cleaned and everything is primed. I have managed to find parts and repair everything that I needed to. I found a new carb. and fuel pump for the K181 and had the G/S rebuilt at a local shop. They also replaced the VR. The engine now runs very well. Fuel system was a mess. My PROBLEM - I am trying to free the rear hitch. I managed to fee the cable, but after a lot of prying and taping (w/BFH) and WD40 and liquid wrench and PB blaster, it will only move about an inch. I tried to pound out the pin but it will not move. Any ides that might help. I can heat it but I only have a plumbers tourch. Thanks, Ted Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
puddlejumper 67 #2 Posted December 29, 2010 Lots of patience with the Hitch pin. If you have mushroomed the pin with the BFH next shot is cut between trans and hitch with sawsall on both sides and have a new pin made. work the pin as much as possible in the trans before cutting so that piece will come out easily when the hitch is out of the way Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

linen beige 14 #9 Posted December 29, 2010 Make sure you have the "C" clips off the ends of the hitch pin before you start hammering on it. Like mentioned, if the ends have mushroomed ANY file them back round before proceeding. I've had luck with drilling into the end, tapping that hole and installing a 7/16 bolt. A socket on the bolt head lets you turn the pin as you hammer on the other end. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
