My Wheel Horse Spring Day

Recommended Posts

Banjo

Just thought I would share a recap of my Wheel Horse Day. :D

Some of you may recall the thread where I upgraded my front and rear wheel and tire size on my 1985 310-8 over last winter. Makes it look like a much more heavy duty model!

The engine was hunting a little bit too so I was thinking maybe clean the carb but first I had printed out the carb adjustment pages one of you kindly posted in a thread here recently. I have the carb with both high and low jets thankfully.

:rtfm: I performed the carb adjustment per the procedure and that took the governer hunting problem away. :WRS:

Today, I changed the oil and tried out some synthetic this time. With the plug out, I grabbed the steering wheel and tipped the tractor to the side a little to get all the oil out of the engine. This was done after the engine was warmed as I have read the oil runs out better when warm.

I also installed one of those Yellow (not my favorite color for a Horse accessory) Briggs and Stratton electronic hour meters right on the blank panel underneath the steering column so I will know when I hit 25 hours, and it's time to change the oil, at a minimum. Works great.

Tested out the mower deck I had installed new blades over the winter and all new belts. Checked all the bearings, greased them (YES, we can still grease these things!) and everything is great. It's the 42" and it works nice!

Finally, just took the Horse for several rides around the property and through the wooded trails I have nice and slow.

That K241S Kohler PURRZZZzzzz, quiet and smooth, runs amazing, like the ultimate small engine ever made. Love the quiet mufflers on these things, I think psychologically it seems even smoother with the fresh synthetic oil but I am sure I am imaging that.

Anyway, it was a beautiful day to ride the Horse. What a beautiful machine they really are. :D

I am jealous... :WRS:

I haven't found an after-work chore to do with the tractor all week so far.

I did some mowing and other chores this weekend but nothing this week.

Keep up the good work Banjo.
