Well fellas I just got a great running 854 with the Hy-2 kit. the PO has drilled a hole and mounted a newer style ignition switch to the side of the hood stand under the gas tank. I am looking for some up close pictures and dimensions of the original starter switch mounting plate they used for the round hoods with the Hy-2 kits. I am going to to a full restoration on this and i would like everything to look original. Also what was the original seat for this tractor i have seen them with both square and round seats. Ill post pictures of the tractor tomorrow. Any help would be great thank you

Look at the manuals in this link, paying particular attention to the HY-3.

http://www.wheelhorse.org/manuals/Prior%20...Accessories.pdf

The 854 used the HY-3 which had the switch mounted in a hole on the side of the hood stand. The system you have is probably correct.

The correct seat is the square pan.

It's not the pump "units" that are different, but rather the installation kit.

The HY-2 is for 1962 models and the HY-3 is for (some) 1963 models.

If the ID sticker is still intact on the pump housing, you have it made.

There are differences between the implement lift ("rock") shaft between the two years, and in 1963, the hoodstand had the holes to relocate the ignition switch and starter button from the factory, so the little box that came with the '62 kit was no longer needed. Those differences made it necessary to have two different kits.

There are also variations in the hydraulic lines/hoses, but can't successfully use that as a guide - since they could have been changed.

The HY-3 kit will also work on the 754/854, so there was no need for an "HY-4".

The same way on both models. Are you thinking he may have a 953/1054(A) type pump?

The HY-2 is for 1962 models

There are also variations in the hydraulic lines/hoses, but can't successfully use that as a guide - since they could have been changed.

For those that may not know, the HY-2 will also work on the 701.

The hose change was during the HY-2 run. The later HY-2s used the same lines as the HY-3.

The handle threads into the valve using 3/8 by 16 threads. I can take a picture of the unit and post it if that would help.
