MyOtherCarisaWheel Horse 10 #1 Posted December 24, 2010 I searched the site but did not see this anywhere but thought perhaps it may help someone down the road. I may have missed it if it is indeed here though. While doing a tune-up on my k241 a while back I ran across the information that the original aluminum rod used to open the points gap on this family of engines was replaced by a stronger steel alloy rod. It seems that after extended use and wear the aluminum rod was too soft and wore down to a shorter length, thus making it impossible to maintain the proper point gap for any length of time. If not replaced it would eventually shorten to the point where it would no longer function at all.
