What can you guys tell me about a 1966 Sears Custom 6

I know (at least I'm pretty sure) it has a 6hp Tec. on it....

Are these very desirable???

What about parts availability???

Do those Tec. runs decent???

I've got a sears custom XL8 but mine has a briggs in it, not worth a ton but the sears collecters could say diff.

It has cast iron wheel weights, which is really the only thing I'm after...

Is the motor worth a darn, I mean, does anyone actively search these motors out to buy?

The old Sears have a good following,they are great little tractors.Check out the Sears forum on MTF .

they can run good if they are rebuilt i think teceys have a bad rep but i activly searched mine out for my tractor and i had the oppertunity to buy a k 161 to put in but i rebuilt the tecky and it runs great.

I will tell you the customs are not worth as much whole or in parts as the Sears suburbans, of the same era, the suburbans are the GT's the customs are more a heavy lawn tractor.
