CTPATRIOT 12 #1 Posted December 16, 2010 My "77 C-120 is super tight everywhere except the front wheel bearings, they are very worn out!The bearings and spindles were covered in grease,so that wasn't the problem. What's my cheapest way out for bearings right now?I did a bunch of work on the tractor today.Air filter, spark plug, gear oil, grease ect..I want to mount the plow/chains tomorrow, but want to fix this first. Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted December 16, 2010 Cheapest is bearings from TSC, or other store like that, here they have them for about $4 each, 1 3/8" od x 3/4" id they are cheap stamped tin bearings much like the orig., I like the sealed bearings you can get from bearing dealers or I get mine from a local JD dealer but they are about $9 each, but I don't have to grease them, they are machined steel, much nicer. WheelHorse_of_course 99 #4 Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks for the size,i'll get some at TSC tomorrow . Using the generic size you probably can get them from manufacturer's Supply (might be in the mini-bike parts section) :D

CTPATRIOT 12 #6 Posted December 16, 2010 I'll order some good ones later on.I need this rig done for Sunday/Monday,we may get a storm .Another question(havent removed all the goop),what holds the front wheels on?Also,it's missing the bearing/hub caps, what size are those?(TSC also?)Thanks for the help. Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted December 17, 2010 Clean the crud off, and there will be a bolt and washer or a snap ring, or E clip, or a cotter pin, they used many things to hold the front wheels on, but I'll guess on yours to be a snap ring, as for the covers see our vender here Glenn the hood ornament guy, he makes them, or your local Toro dealer they have the plain ones. Butch 194 #8 Posted December 17, 2010 Duke are both sides sealed and you pop the inner seal out so grease can reach it. During some of my wheel endeavors I have noticed the hub full of grease and the bearings have seals on both sizes. If the hub of the wheel has a grease zert then to me it means that the inner side bearing must not have a seal. Are those bearing sizes pretty much the same for all WH wheels? It seems pretty common. Kelly 1,033 #9 Posted December 17, 2010 I don't pull the seal, they come greased from the factory and will last years and years, and yes the same size bearing fits many of the WH front wheels, if not most of them.
catman81056 3 #10 Posted December 17, 2010 Good point Kelly, 1 pump to many and you pop the outer seal off. Did a little Googling; http://www.thebigbearingstore.com/servlet/...ed-Mower/Detail
