Recommended Posts

hhhhoooolllldddd on a min there. I am still smoothing things out with my wife for the first one. Although, she is pretty numb anymore after about 20 Wetbikes :D

On a side note, I have found a couple WH's in the area that would look good in the garage :WRS:

Jason

Side note? Me thinks you just proved my point. Snuck all the way up on ya didn't it. We all know where there's at least one more orphaned WH we feel we NEED to bring home. :D

Alright, I'm busted :D I would like to pick up a couple more. I just don't have alot of room to store them so that will hopefully limit me alittle :D

Thanks again everyone. I worked the Raider alittle today dethaching and sweeping my yard and the neighbors yard. Also loaded the trailer over flowing with wood from the one neighbors house to the others. Also, pulled some watercraft trailers around. I am still trying to get my wife to admit that it is useful to have

Jason,

:D and congrats

A good deal. For one thing it is in good shape. That plus all the attachments and the wheel weights (another reason you won the pull off).

My 1969 Charger 12 (in poor shape) cost me $160 and included no attachments other than the mower deck.

The thing that finally sold my wife was the snow plow (and now the blower). The plow services cost too much.

Welcome, and have fun :WRS:

Jason; Last summer my wife decided we needed a patio. The cheapest estimate included $3400.00 for excavation, gravel base, and forms. :WRS: I hitched my WT-241 tiller to my 702 and busted up the sod. Then I used the dirt blade (it does not have trip springs on it, so it is a true dozer blade) to grade the site down. Since the gravel truck driver couldn't make the turn into the back yard, I had to push 25,000 lb.s of rock over to the site. The neighbors couldn't beleive that a 7 hp machine could even pull itself up onto the rock pile, much less push a foot high pile of rock over the top!:D The dual rear wheels kept it from sinking in. I then took a grader box mounted on my 1054a and leveled it out, using the weight of the tractor to compact it. After building the forms, I had the concrete guy pour and finish the patio and walkway. Then I got to use the 702 and 1054a to back fill and finish grade the area around the patio. I keep reminding the wife that I had far less than the $3400 tied up in the horses, so after having an estimated $5900.00 project completed for $1400, with an investment in equipment of around $1100.00, she owes me $3400 worth of Wheel Horse stuff. :D But be careful, I ended up with, instead of a 4 inch gravel base and 3 1/2 - 4 inch slab as called for in the estimates, with a 17 inch gravel base and 5 1/2 inches of slab. Pushing dirt is so much fun! And, since we don't get much snow here, when we got about eight inches one night in Feb. all the neighbors wanted to know if I was going to fire up the little beast. She cleared about a thousand feet of sidewalk and four driveways in just under an hour, including the delays caused by curious questions such as "How old did you say that is?" As for running out of room, Google R&B Wheel Horse stables. They have pics of their answer to running out of floor room in the barn.

Now if I could only get the wife to "like" the money savings justification. She still owes me $3400.00. But I have a dilimna; The old 702 burns more oil than gas, :WRS: and i really want to do a full restoration. But I know that if I get her back in the shape she should be in, then I'll be afraid to get her dirty.

I had almost forgotten about this little tid bit. Back in the late sixties my mom's brother owned the house next to where we then lived and rented it out. He bought a brand new Cub, I don't remember the model, just that it had a ten hp. engine and several speeds. My cousin was bragging about how much nicer the Cub was as compared to my daddy's little tractor ( 400 suburban w/4 hp.). After a few minutes of this my brother, who is roughly the same age as this cousin, challenged him to a duel of sorts by saying "Let's hook up up.". They placed them back to back on my uncle's driveway and hooked them together with a log chain. My cousin throttled up and dumped the clutch, took the slack out of the chain and jostled the little 'Horse pretty good. Then my brother relealeased the clutch on the 400 and pulled the Cub, with it's back wheels throwing gravel all over the back of the 'horse, all the way to the end of the drive. My cousin never bragged about the "big ten horsepower" after that! But I guess he also never realized that the turf tires on that Cub were no match for the ag lugs on the Wheel Horse. :WRS: That was a physics leasson I will never forget watching. I still remember the look on is face..... :wtf: sums it up nicely.

Ok, it looks like this one is off-topic enough. I'm going to close this one to get things back.
