need an engine

hello im fixen up a 1960 550 suburban

it had a non stock engine in it

i would like a proper engine

i think it should be a 5.5 hp kholer

can anyone help me out

i'm also looking for a better hood and hand controls

any help would be great thanks

What you need is a 5.5hp Lauson (Tecumseh) H55 motor. That is the factor motor for the 1960 Suburban 550. You could put in 4hp Kohler K91 motor which would turn the tractor into a Suburban 400 model. You have a much better chance at finding the Kohler motor because the Lauson H55 is practically impossible to find.

Ebay usually has the other parts you need from time to time. Just keep checking every day for new auctions.

i have seen people put in a 6hp tecumseh and you cant tell the diffrence with luason decal same motor just a little easyer to find and buy parts for.

Yes you can also put a Tecumseh H60 motor on. They are much more widely available and cheaper and you won't know the difference. But they aren't stock for the Suburban models....
