T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,610 #1 Posted May 1, 2008 I wanted to go over to the church one more time before my surgery tomorrow to mow the grass there. So I loaded up my 314-8, my JD X320 , my LB push mower and my Stihl trimmer. My wife's cousin goes with me and we figure we get done in no time. But, of course, things never go as plan. First, a belt breaks on the 314 (blade-to-blade-to-blade belt) and then ran out of gas in the JD. I thought for sure I had a full tank in it, and even though it has a see through tank, I still didn't check. :imstupid: But we still got it done anyway. I guess I need to go to the dealer and get the belt. It's a model 78361 deck and I think the part number is 1594 so I guess I need to find out how much that thing costs. :WRS:

nylyon-(Admin) 7,882 #3 Posted May 1, 2008 Sorry to hear that Terry. Before you get the mower deck belt check into the deck kits on eBay. They are $70 or so and have all the belts, idler pulley, anti-scalp, gauge wheels and blades. Makes for a good mower tune up I put one on the RD last year, and like it a lot. T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,610 #4 Posted May 2, 2008 Karl, I don't think I've seen this kit yet. I may have to see if I can find one. BTW, do you have a link to one?
nylyon-(Admin) 7,882 #5 Posted May 2, 2008 Check here. http://cgi.ebay.com/D11-Wheel-Horse-Deck-K...Q2em118Q2el1247 I put one on last year and am satisfied with it, I'll probably get another for the 42" SD this year. The only thing which didn't fit properly was the gauge wheels, I had to add a spacer washer, no big deal, so they wouldn't rub.
Rollerman 290 #6 Posted May 2, 2008 Terry I don't really have anything to add....other than it sounds like a bad day for tractors. I supose this is what happens when you load a Horse & a Deere on the same trailer..they have fits.
kj4kicks 154 #7 Posted May 2, 2008 Sorry about your luck T-MO. Hopefully that's the end of it, and things get better starting tomorrow!
DMESS 24 #8 Posted May 2, 2008 That sounds like my day Tuesday when I was in a hurry to mow. I tried to use the 310-8 instead of the LB Insight and sure enough, click click whiiiirrrrr...no start. had to put the charger on for awhile which made it not so quick. I contemplated throwing the 37" on the 417-8 and just taking wide corners (only suitable deck I have here for it is a 42" mounted to a front carrier which is pure he!! to navigate on my lawn, and the 37" collides with 8" wheels on left turns) but chose to "wait it out" a bit. I got it done in time before work anyway and it beat walking and then working 12hrs. Hey, WH, LB and Stihl. You've got all the right brands! I LOVE my STIHL stuff almost as much as the Horses.
