Coulter Plow

Recommended Posts

Hey WH Gods. Got a Coulter plow, I think that is what it is called, got the description from an e-bay pic. , from a neighbor. I don't know how they work or better yet how they are started in the ground. I have a small field that I want to cultivate and need to know how to get started. There is a good pic. orf one on e-bay that is close to the one I have. I can make it fit my horse, just need to know the basics, like do I have to dig a hole first or will it start on its own, etc.....Thanks.

Well... the short answer to your question is no hole necessary. The plow will dig right in. Maybe Micah can email you his video if you can't see youtube.

And while it doesn't completely apply to the old slot hitch plow that Wheel Horse had... here's a link to the WFM page on how the sleeve hitch plow is set up and works. good information here. General plowing instructions at the bottom of the page.
