Exhaust pipe on a D

Recommended Posts

Operator

OK guys your opinion here, Went for my road trip to pick up my three point mower and a 48" blower, and on a bench there sat some more D parts! Three mufflers!!! some hyd. lines and misc. stuff bought it all!

My D-200 needs mufflers but the PO sawed off the pipe just before the elbow going into mufflers, so I need to unscrew the cut pipe.

Should I unbolt it off motor? Leave on and use torch heat then let it cool and try?

The wax trick?

Randy

I would try to remove it from the engine. You can do a lot of damage trying to unscrew

pipe. I take it your talking about schedule 40 water pipe.

All ya gotta do is take a hacksaw blade and cut the pipe through the threads

In the block alittle Then take a flat chisel and a hammer and roll the piece of

Pipe out

Cut the pipe close to the manifold and do as stated before, using a hand held hackc=saw blade carefully cut though the remaining pipe to split it and then using a small chisel bend it up and then out. Not to bad a job to do.

Good luck!

I wouldn't try the manifold studs, they rust in pretty solid, so be careful.

Give a good tack of a bar crosswise inside the busted off niple , melt wax on threads , weld heat might be enough ,,, let cool ,use pliers and screw out

I knew I could count on you all!

I'm busy tomorrow but will try on thrusday. Then I have to figure out the length I need for new pipe.

Gerry I got model number off my new blower and I'll check on your part :ychain:
