WH Raider10 17 #1 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi guys, I just bought a verry nice c-161. It looks to have an onan engine on it? Is this correct? How manny HP would this be? 16,18? It was sitting in a barn for 2 years, before that it got new oil and a little maintenace on the engine. We got it crancking really slow, the battery was dead. I'm going to haul it in the Christmas holiday. Is there anything on this engine I've to look at before I try to start it? I'm not familiar with these engines. Also the decals on it are from Germany,it must be assembled overthere. Can anyone give me a link to an online parts list for this model of wheelhorse? Also I would like to get some info on the engine. What type of sparkplugs goes in it? and pics will follow ASAP! :D
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #2 Posted December 5, 2010 A C-161 twin "over here" had a horizontally-opposed 16hp Briggs & Stratton flathead engine. The model number should be on a tag just below the dash and the engine numbers should be stamped in the blower housing (flywheel cover) on the engine. The USA versions were only built in 1978 & 1979 and their model numbers were 81-16B801 and 91-16B801 or 91-16B802. LINK to tractor IPL for one of the 1979 models. This LINK will get you to the engine IPL.
