D160 Snowblower

Recommended Posts

mdmranger

Hi, I have just installed my snowblower onto my D160 and found that the drive was not turning fully, After close inspection I found that the driveshaft is pushed all the way back up against the knuckle on the end to the gearbox preventing it from making a full turn. Got the gear box off but can not get the driveshaft to slide, tried to use a little help with a hammer then soaked it in penetrating oil over night, still no luck. Any suggestions out there?

Might take a little while to penetrate in there, keep trying. You're on the right track. In the mean time try a bigger hammer? Just kidding.

Just in case there is one on the E-Bay right now, $30.00. I think I can mention it?

Being a Machinist and Welder for a looooooong time dealing with such things .. Dont laugh ,heat with a small propane torch . The same kind used for sweat soldering. Melt a little WAX (doesn't matter what kind crayon ,candle, birthday works good ) . Let cool for the wax to set up AND wala ,it slides off . Works the same for stuck bolts . Just try to remember that wax gets real runny and get into everything . The real trick is to let it COOL back to wax so it works right !!!!

Worked on a rusted bearing on a rusty shaft, and slid right over rust right off shaft. Just get hot enough to melt wax down deep enough, than COOL !!!! cooling is the real trick.
