tire size help

OK I'm pulling my hair out on this. the front tires that are on my 1968 raider 9 are 4-4.80x8 and the look too tall and the manual says the tire size should be 16-5.50x8 what is the difference in the tire sizes? and dose it matter if they are taller or shorter?

on some tractors i think it was an option because in my manual it says 4 x4.80x8 but on the front cover it has the wider taler tires and in the front of the manual where it shows tire assembly it says 16-5.50x8. so it might have came with either or size not sure for sure though. the other tires are wider and look better on the bigger tractors like 10hp and up i think.

They are both roughly the same size height wise, just the 6.5 will be a wider tire. More like a flotation tire, whereas the other skinny tire will sink in mud or soft soil. I usually like the fat look, but something about the "big and little" looks good. (Fat tire out back, skinny up front, like old school hot rods and drag cars).
