AMC RULES 37,147 #1 Posted November 26, 2010 Can anyone advise the correct battery recommended for my '88 520-H? Seems the old Interstate Workaholic isn't working so hard these days(ready to give up the ghost). Seems it's a wee bit too small for the original battery tray too. Like its a replacement and not the right one? I want whats supposed to be there. Can you recommend a source for it too? rmaynard 15,938 #2 Posted November 26, 2010 Correct battery is supposed to be a 260 CCA low maintenance. I would just go to my local Battery Warehouse or Interstate battery dealer and get any garden tractor battery that is 260 CCA or higher, type U1-L. I have owned 2 different 520H 1992, 1996 still have. neither one would start with a standard battery, I had to go with a 350 CCA + battery for them to start corectly. the 260CCA battery works fine on smaller engines, but you need the stronger one for the Onan.
