Lawn Ranger kid 14 #1 Posted November 25, 2010 The electric clutch on my d-160 acts like it is aways on. I hooked my snowblower up and when I start the tractor the snow blower spins. I know that the switch is of and there is no juice to the clutch because I can hear the clutch click when I flip the switch. Sometimes it does not spin when I start the tractor but when I start the snow blower then it won't shut off. Do I need a new clutch or is there something I can fix? Woodsman 3 #3 Posted December 1, 2010 If the clutch is always running, it's good. It sounds like you have an issue with either the on/off switch or the ignition switch. Start by inspecting the wires and cleaning the contacts. Chances are that will be the culprit. I had a similar issue with my clutch and it works fine after a cleaning. I believe your belt should be on the outer pulley. Take a look down and make sure it's running straight in line with the pulley on the blower. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Save Old Iron 1,571 #4 Posted December 2, 2010 if you remove the electrical power to the clutch - no possible way the clutch should electrically engage - if it does still engage the attachment, then the issue with the clutch will be purely mechanical. I have never cleaned one but I would assume the clutch assy may suffer from the same issues as a dirty starter assy. Free up all the mechanical movements and make sure the components that slide in the clutch pack are on clean surfaces free of old grease, dirt or gummy oil. bitten 134 #5 Posted December 4, 2010 I am not familiar with this PTO but would think that if it is stuck on without power I would take it apart and see what gives. When I got my D200 the (manual)PTO was always on. I took it apart and found that it was in very bad shape. With some time, money and dirty fingers I got to work like new again.
