MaineDad 87 #1 Posted November 21, 2010 Guys, What is the wire size used to rotate the short chute snow thrower? My neighbor needs to get some new wire for his. Thanks...
Buzz 502 #2 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm surprised someone hasn't answered you Micah, I think it's 1/8". The files section of Yahoo's wheelhorsegardentractors group has a file called snow thrower cable.jpg that shows how it's wrapped and I believe it has the cable size also. I can't open it on my work computer. Here's the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wheelhorsega...tractors/files/
ducky 1 #3 Posted November 22, 2010 it is 3/32 cable and u need about 6ft of it. and u rap it 3 1/2 time around the shaft. make sure u insert it in the little hole or it wont work.
IthacaJeff 151 #4 Posted November 22, 2010 Micah: The blower I just bought has a broken cable. . . it is 1/8" and in a plastic sleeve. Jeff in Enfield NY
IthacaJeff 151 #5 Posted November 22, 2010 On second thought, it is smaller than 1/8. . . 3/32" looks more accurate. Jeff
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted November 22, 2010 Here's a topic that might get some use this time of year: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=6979 Micah.... have you considered using .080" or .095 trimmer line? I changed my thrower over to a gear-driven chute before I had the chance, but I hear it works well.
