Ken B 3,189 #27 Posted November 19, 2010 You CT guys are always crying !! I have not bought one off CL or otherwise in a while (besides the one in the etank now). Very funny Ken about the work from home behind a computer all day thing. The round hoods are around you just have to look daily. Early bird gets the worm. In fact Garrett from NJ just posted a 551 for sale in NJ !! Very good price too. No cryin here Stevie boy, (I'm not interested in adding anything) just seeing if the CT boys are payin attention. I knew you would like the work from home dig. :wh:
Horse'n Around 22 #28 Posted November 19, 2010 John, I knew it wouldnt be long before somebody south or west of me would chime in on that. Your both and I feel for you buddy. But yoyr gonna haft to hurry up or us vultures are going to have them all cleaned up. How is the wal-mart search going (hope memory serves me right there) So far we have not had any luck yet.Its very difficult to do by long distance. However I got a call this afternoon and theres a strong possibility that I will be making a trip to Nashville probably in January to do some session/studio on the drums. After that Im going to spend close to 3 weeks in PA pounding the pavement and just drive to different stores in PA,VA,MD,WV to see whats happening in the world of Wallyworld. My wifes Mgr said that word of mouth from area stores is the best and almost only way to get info because locally the stores and employees know what is going on and where because they are part of the process. The session work is only supposed to last a couple of days so Im going stay in Chambersburg and do my thing for the rest of the time.Im detrmined to come back with good news. Also Im really hoping to get to meet some of the folks from here while Im there. Like I said Ill have 2 to 3 weeks. Good thing is that I will be driving my truck and I think it would surely be a sin to not return with some WH treasures I sure wish I had a bigger truck... its a Mazda 94 B3000 tho Heck theres always a U haul trailer. Also if all goes well on my way in,I am hoping to meet up with Dwayne along the way thru and deliver a certain Porter Cable tractor to its new home John
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #29 Posted November 19, 2010 It amazes me all the horses you guys are digging up. i look on craigslist all the time and i dont see many if any round hoods for sale in the CT area. im guessing since they were built in the midwest that the erea is littered with them. kinda like john deere snowmobiles.......all in the midwest. i have one but had to get it in indiana! If anyone in CT has an old round hood like the ones shown above for sale......PM me please! MASS? RI? Anyone in the northeast have a round hood for sale? i like a challenge........condition really doesnt matter. Anyone know what it would cost approx to have one shipped from the midwest to the northeast? awesome tractors you scored. i envy you. I'm in CT as well. It seems that in order to score the really good deals you need to have a job where you sit in front of the puter all day and look at C/L when the boss ain't around, or you have a wife that sits at home and searches all day for you! Or, you work from home! I generally don't bother looking at C/L anymore, there are about 50 guys in the immediate area doing the same thing. The last few I called on (right after the ad was placed) were snagged by some bandit in an old black chevy pickup. People are using Craigsnotifica (or similar app) on their cell phone which messages them whenever new ads are placed with the search criteria setup. Sometimes the messages I get are several minutes before the ad appears on the Craiglist website.
Kelly 1,033 #30 Posted November 19, 2010 Well I have no trouble finding them, the round hoods are getting harder, but they are out there, I just picked up a nice 702 for $125 if you put the word out they will find you, it took about a year before all the hard work telling people stopping at all the dealers, handing out cards with my name and info stating buying WH tractors, came to play, but now I turn down many tractors, I can be picky, in fact I have to be picky or I would need a few more acres of land to store them. TerryJW 0 #31 Posted November 19, 2010  Thank you for all your posts. I really am partial to the round hoods. I will have to get a sticker (HORSE-A-HOLICS) to put on my truck and start attending meetings as soon as possible before I have another relapse. Thanks again. DMK855 15 #34 Posted November 21, 2010 Also if all goes well on my way in,I am hoping to meet up with Dwayne along the way thru and deliver a certain Porter Cable tractor to its new home John John, I would be thrilled to meet up with you!! Keep me posted!!!! Nashville is just a short haul for me. About three hours!! And just to chime in, it is rough being into the WH's and living someplace that they are few and far between!!!! I too may have the most in Ga.!?!?!? But than again, if there were a bunch of them around, I would be able to pick and choose like Kelly!!! I would have them everywhere for sure!!!! :)
