TerryJW 0 #1 Posted November 18, 2010 Picked up 2 horses today. Its starting to become an obsession. The wife does not know about the last 3 tractors I bought. Purchased 5 tractors within the last 4 months. Having trouble finding a place to hide the last three. Me and the horses might be looking for a place to live when she does find out. I won't tell her till after christmas in case she asks me what I want for christmas and I tell her another tractor. God I'm in trouble. Here are pics of the ones I picked up today. puddlejumper 67 #10 Posted November 18, 2010 Another question. I notice alot of the old suburbans found have yellow rims not just these just quite a few of the barn finds. Is there a reason for this other than coincidence.
hoppy 0 #11 Posted November 18, 2010 It amazes me all the horses you guys are digging up. i look on craigslist all the time and i dont see many if any round hoods for sale in the CT area. im guessing since they were built in the midwest that the erea is littered with them. kinda like john deere snowmobiles.......all in the midwest. i have one but had to get it in indiana! If anyone in CT has an old round hood like the ones shown above for sale......PM me please! MASS? RI? Anyone in the northeast have a round hood for sale? i like a challenge........condition really doesnt matter. Anyone know what it would cost approx to have one shipped from the midwest to the northeast? awesome tractors you scored. i envy you.
puddlejumper 67 #12 Posted November 18, 2010 Hoppy seems everybody feels the same as you when it comes to number of tractors in their area.(Grass is always greener elsewhere) My own personal opinion is there all in pennsylvania or new york. :)

Anyone know what it would cost approx to have one shipped from the midwest to the northeast? awesome tractors you scored. i envy you. I'm in CT as well. It seems that in order to score the really good deals you need to have a job where you sit in front of the puter all day and look at C/L when the boss ain't around, or you have a wife that sits at home and searches all day for you! Or, you work from home! I generally don't bother looking at C/L anymore, there are about 50 guys in the immediate area doing the same thing. The last few I called on (right after the ad was placed) were snagged by some bandit in an old black chevy pickup.
jpmcleod 4 #16 Posted November 19, 2010 My wife would rather I chase horses than women. The best thing about the horses, you could always get your money back so it really is an investment. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Anyway, two nice tractors.
KC9KAS 4,744 #17 Posted November 19, 2010 Nice tractors...wish I could find some good deals around here! Fortunately, my wife doesn't give me much trouble about my purchases....In fact, she often looks for them for me!
wheelhorse122 0 #18 Posted November 19, 2010 Nice find, the one on the right is realy nice. There was actually a wh dealership in my town from 1960 to the 80s, but I cant find a wh for nothing :)

Those are really nice, they look really complete. As for the scarcity of Wheel Horses...... try living in Arizona Its Wheel horse hell. I think that I might own the only 3 Wheel Horses in the state! But once we get to PA, look out I might have to make up for lost time John

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,534 #24 Posted November 19, 2010 You CT guys are always crying !! I have not bought one off CL or otherwise in a while (besides the one in the etank now). Very funny Ken about the work from home behind a computer all day thing. The round hoods are around you just have to look daily. Early bird gets the worm. In fact Garrett from NJ just posted a 551 for sale in NJ !! Very good price too.

Most of what I see are mid seventies and up. I think they are just getting scarce in general!
