nylyon-(Admin) 7,882 #7 Posted April 27, 2008 It is a little tough to see, but looks like a great find! Are you planning on restoring it?
rustbucket 4 #8 Posted April 27, 2008 restorations are already under way by me and my dad he plans on pulling it if all gets fixed right in the county fairs lawn tractor pulls if it is possable. already spent 350 dollars on engine parts. stator and trigger module on the 14 HP kohler. the stator was just plain missin but the trigger for the ignition was fried out on the engine. rustbucket 4 #9 Posted April 27, 2008 that pic was taken the day i found it at the place i also aquiered the dead jacobson super cheif. was all last year i just got lucky and the guy wanted it all gone and didnt realize what he gave up. the first problem we fixed easily was a stuck exhaust valve. we fixed that and cranked it over and everything works engine wise so far. tomarrow we will tinker with the wireing and see if we cant get her to fire up for us and i will try to roll it around into the light so we can take pictures of it and the jacobson together. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #13 Posted April 27, 2008 Too bad we didn't know you were having stator / ignition problems with the GT14.... You could have changed it over to battery ignition for at least half the money, (or less) depending on how many used parts you could have found. Personally - I'm not a big fan of the Kohler "breakerless" ignition.
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #14 Posted April 27, 2008 My wife watches a lot of shows on Animal Planet. We have seen many neglected horses on that show and it is really sad. But it is very nice to see a neglected horse - A Wheel Horse of Course - get saved. Thanks, and have fun!
Stigian 1,234 #15 Posted April 27, 2008 dont be mad this is how i found it last year my GT-14 it is no longer treated like this since i got it. rustbucket 4 #16 Posted April 27, 2008 today is the day me and my dad go and poke and prod under the hood of the horse to see if we can breath life back into her old strong kohler 14 HP engine. im hopeing for it to crank and run strong. then after we get that from her we will see what else needs what. dose anyone know where i could get the hydro deck lift lever for it since mine is broken off or should i just fabricate a new one by hand ?
