Forest Road 594 #1 Posted November 17, 2010 I've been contemplating picking one up. If you own one or have used one. I have manual and hydro tractors. I'd appreciate your two cents.
Ken B 3,166 #2 Posted November 17, 2010 If you can pick one up used for the right price then why not. New ones have gotten to be quite expensive these days. I don't own one but I know a guy that did have one and he said its uses are limited, good for carrying things around and useful to spread mulch in the spring. IthacaJeff 151 #3 Posted November 17, 2010 Not to be pessimistic or anything, but I've seen, I believe, two Johnny Buckets for sale in my area in the past several years. One was already attached to a tractor, and the other was very old and had fit on another tractor. I think the chances of finding a used one that will fit on a WH may be a challenge. stevebo-(Moderator) 8,401 #4 Posted November 17, 2010 I have to ask what model machine are you looking to put it on? Reason I ask is the machines with a 3 point hitch have the capability of adding a scoop type attachment or forks etc that works the exact same way and lift just as high as a johnny bucket. Fruit forf thought...
dgoyette 12 #5 Posted November 17, 2010 I have one and like it very much. For material transport it is super. It is a very well made attachment. I have moved gravel and used the tooth bar for some light digging. I agree with Jeff that it won't be easy finding a used one. If you do find a used that was not for a Wheel Horse John at Johnny Products will sell the Wheel Horse mounting separately.
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #6 Posted November 17, 2010 Here are the instructions they emailed me. http://www.mediafire.com/?0ixp0bsh89sxhd4 I bought mine used for $325. I like it but I doubt I would buy one new for the price they are asking. It works well for what it was designed for. Mine is the manual version.
wallfish 17,573 #7 Posted November 18, 2010 I've seen some pics of home built versions that were made from dozer blades. The first guy made his out of wood and others followed up with some decent metal versions that looked pretty good. If your interested, I should be able to find a link or two. sorekiwi 761 #9 Posted November 18, 2010 There has been a few threads along this line is the past. Nicks "house of fabrication" produced a home built one that I was going to copy, until my loader project came along. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...ic=398&hl=scoop http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...c=1059&hl=scoop And Stephens rear scoop: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...c=8007&hl=scoop There are more if you search for "scoop"
jimt1971 237 #10 Posted November 18, 2010 I added a Sears tractor scoop on my Lawn Ranger. I will add pictures this weekend. I got it used from Sears for around $150.00. I fabbed up a subframe that could be moved to other Wheel Horse tractors I have. So far it has worked good for me. Jim
Forest Road 594 #11 Posted November 26, 2010 Thanks for all the feed back. If I were to buy one it would have to used. Both of my machines combined cost less than a new JB! I'd probably put it on the 314-H. I'll be moving dirt and gravel for the driveway.
