SD deck question

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a nice 314A with a super quiet deck. The deck rear adjuster was apart. I have the handle with the studs sticking out and the spring. I tried putting it back on but the shaft that the wheels mount on can move left to right quit a ways. If you move it too far to the left the handle and spring can come out again/ What holds that shaft in place?

Normally what resembles keystock is welded to the cross shaft where the gauge wheels mount. They are "trapped" by the clamps that fasten the gauge wheel assembly to the deck.

Sometimes the adjuster quadrant gets bent or slides sideways enough (slotted holes) to allow the adjuster handle to pop out of place.

Thanks Terry. I haven't had a chance to really look at the deck yet. It was repaired near one of those clamps. I have an idea what may have happened now
