Coadster32 793 #1 Posted October 29, 2010 Last night I started to reassemble the K181 I had apart. I did rings, hone, and a valve job. I bought the whole gasket kit, and decided to change the bearing plate gasket. It wasn't leaking, but figured, what the heck. After taking it off and cleaning it up, I thought about how to keep the gasket aligned while installing the plate. I ended up putting in threaded rods thru them all to keep the gasket line up while re-assembling. Once I got it there, I replaced the rods with the correct bolts, and tightened her down. Pretty simple, but thought I share this. Hope this helps someone out.
Audioshot 2 #2 Posted October 29, 2010 Hey great idea. I may be rebuilding a Kohler as a project this winter and will try this trick.

Coadster32 793 #6 Posted October 31, 2010 I've confiscated that measuring cup, and a few other kitchen items a few years back. I also find a turkey baster in my collection as well. I surely can't be the only one.
KC9KAS 4,744 #7 Posted October 31, 2010 Glad you made that clear (measuring cup business). I thought you may be rebuilding the engine in the kitchen at the same time the misses was making supper! Oh yuck, the gravey tastes like motor oil!
