dryrun 0 #1 Posted October 22, 2010 hello. I pulled a k341 apart for rebuild, and found a piston I cannot identify. The manual shows 2 kinds of pistons used. Type A can be used in all Kseries, and type C used only in k341. This piston has cutouts on skirt, but no crosshatch pattern. It has a number 2456A on inside of skirt. Can anyone help me with this? thanks George

Don1977 605 #4 Posted October 22, 2010 I was told that you could use a Ford Falcon piston in a Kohler engine. That does look like a piston out of a car.
rmaynard 16,327 #5 Posted October 22, 2010 I think that piston is from a John Deere engine. This is a picture of a piston from a K341 out of a JD300. Looks like your piston. Bob
dryrun 0 #6 Posted October 22, 2010 MAYNARD, I think you are on to something there. The rest of the engine shows very little wear. Everything is within stock tolerance except for the piston itself. This D160 came down through a long line of "open air" small engine repairmen. And to DON1977, If piston did come from falcon, i hope it did better there than it did in K341. Thanks for input guys.
